Navigating Inclusive Language

This course is such a valuable experience for anyone in journalism, politics, education, business, or any field where communication really matters. It’s full of thoughtful reminders about how to express yourself with clarity and respect in all kinds of situations—including the ones where it’s easy to get it wrong. Even if some ideas feel familiar, the way they’re presented here brings fresh perspective and depth. The subtle details and real-world examples truly help elevate your communication skills and leave you feeling more confident, grounded, and intentional in how you connect with others.

This is a great course in that it lifts inclusive language out of the murky and shame-based world of political correctness and establishes it on the solid basis of accuracy, relevance, and respect. The presenter does us all a service by creating a simple yet specific set of six criteria by which we can evaluate our own language choices and modify them when and if we find ourselves in error or out of date. It's a deceptively quick run through the content, but I know I'll be returning to the lessons on my own and with others, to discuss, review and to practice better ways of communicating inclusively. As a non-native English speaker, and a translator and terminologist, I loved this course. Anne has such a clear and thoughtful way of organizing information—her infographics and examples made complex ideas easy to understand and apply.
